The Lutheran East Side Mission was started so that the Lord and his gifts would be available to ALL people, especially those who live in Davenport's urban east side neighborhoods.  The Lutheran East Side Mission exists because God "desires all to be saved and to come to the knowledge of the truth." (1 Timothy 2:4)
The LESM is supported by member congregations of the Davenport (IA) Circuit of the Lutheran Church Missouri Synod, by financial and service gifts from other Lutheran congregations and individuals, and by financial and service grants from various organizations.

The member congregations of the Davenport Circuit are St. Paul, Bennett; Our Savior, Bettendorf; Park View Lutheran, Park View/Eldridge; and Holy Cross, Immanuel, Risen Christ, and Trinity, all in Davenport.

We appreciate your prayers and continued financial & hands-on support of Lutheran East Side Mission. Being involved in the Mission creates relationships that are critical to God’s plan. Sharing our faith through encouragement and outreach to others will help to unite people under one God. We are grateful that God’s plans for East Side Mission are exemplified through you and your prayers. Because of your support we can change lives. The Mission is blessed to share in the joy as we witness Christ at work in you and the hearts of the families who attend Mission programs.

This past year was a challenge for most families, changing how we live, shop, work and worship. The Mission Board of Directors made the decision in March of 2020 to temporarily suspend all programs at the Mission including Worship Services. The Mission resumed programs in October but remained low key with social distancing and limited access. After careful consideration, the choice was made to discontinue Worship Service with the Word and Sacrament. The families are invited to worship at our supporting Lutheran Churches within the Circuit. The Mission Board once again voted to temporarily close the Mission in Nov/Dec due to the Davenport School schedule. Concerned friends of Lutheran East Side Mission believed that the Mission should be open to further our Mission of Renewing hearts and minds by bringing God’s people to the knowledge of his teachings and prepare our youth through spiritual enrichment to provide stepping-stones in building a Christian foundation.

With thanksgiving to God, the Mission is open, the After School program resumed just in time for the children’s annual shop and wrap event. Thank you to LWML of Trinity Lutheran who collected and delivered gift items, gift bags/tissue paper & gift tags. The donated gift bags simplified wrapping gifts. In December, Our Savior Church and Pre-School made an annual donation of pantry items and donated winter coats. One notable gift to the Mission remains to be the circuit Pastors and their supporting congregations. Thank you for your prayers and financial support for the Mission.

We invite you to stop and see us at 805 Tremont, Davenport. The after-school program runs Monday - Thursday 3:00 - 5:00. Youth Group meets Tuesdays 5:00-6:00 p.m., due to the Virus, dates and times vary for youth meetings & service events. Our Ladies Group with Bible study plans to meet twice a month 5:30 - 7:30, dates will be modified due to the weather and family schedules. The Board of Directors meets every other month on the 1st Thursday at 6:30 p.m. If interested in serving on the Board or if you would like to volunteer at the Mission, please contact the Mission at (563) 323-6812 or e-mail us volunteer at the Mission, please contact the Mission at (563) 323-6812 or e-mail us

Praying: Lord God, Your love is all around us, may we gather together, encouraging each other, knowing that You are in our midst. Amen.

Rejoicing with you in the glory and wonder in God’s Gifts!

We continue to need helpers and particularly male mentors for the young boys who attend our After School Program.   Volunteering at the mission is an opportunity to exercise your faith and be a role model for people who need to see how a Christian lives and cares for others.

The pantry could always use some canned fruit, and canned meat and paper products.

We would also appreciate any members of Davenport Circuit congregations willing to serve on our Mission Board.
