Psalm 146
(please read it all from your Bible)
1Praise the Lord!*
Praise the Lord, O my soul!
2I will praise the Lord as long as I live;*
I will sing praises to my God while I have my being.
3Put not your trust in princes,*
in a son of man, in whom there is no salvation.
4When his breath departs he returns to the earth;*
on that very day his plans perish.
5Blessèd is he whose help is the God of Jacob,*
whose hope is in the Lord his God,
6who made heaven and earth,
the sea, and all that is in them,*
who keeps faith forever;
We are coming up to a July 4th Holiday and it also happens to be an election year. As a Pastor I do not make the things that go around us as a primary thought and focus but, as a pastor, I must also not be ignorant of the surroundings that are in our lives. We will be celebrating the fourth of July as a country. It is a very important date in our country’s history. As people of America, we should be very aware of how this country started and where this country is going in the future. We are blessed by God to have what we have because of living in America. Remember it is God who created the heavens and the earth. It is God who sent his only Begotten Son, Jesus The Christ, to redeem the whole world, past, present and future. With all that in front of us, the concerns of the problems in the World, America, Iowa, we are to look to the Lord our God and know, He is in control of all things. He never sleeps or ignores our cries for help, never gives serpents when we ask for eggs or crushes us because we can’t stop ourselves from sinning. He is slow to anger and abounding in steadfast love. We are to put our trust in Him. Yes, I just said “TRUST” in God, LOL We so want to have God listen to us, well because we are SO SMART and KNOW EVERYTHING. It’s the same as your favorite sports team. HEY Coach, you should have done the play that is in my head, WE WOULD HAVE SCORED!!! I am concerned for our World, America, Iowa, who will be our next President, taxes, inflation…. The list goes on. Bur, here is what the Word of God says, 5Blessèd is he whose help is the God of Jacob,’ whose hope is in the Lord his God,6 who made heaven and earth. Trust in God above all things. Yes, I will still worry and think at times I know better, but this I know, God is God and there is no other. In Him do I trust because He has loved us before all things and knows all things.
My prayer for us all in the world, Lord our God, helps us trust in You and You alone. For You are the God of our salvation, Father, Son and Holy Spirit. Amen.
Have a blessed Fourth of July and a most blessed Life in Christ.
